BAROSSA
VALLEY is one of Australia's main wine
producing areas. It is actually the valley of the
North Para River, but William Light named it BAROSSA
(hillside of roses) after a wine growing district in
Spain. The valley is about 32 kilometres long and
3 to 12 kilometres wide. It lies 56 kilometres
east of Adelaide, in South Australia. Low hills
rise sharply to as much as 700 metres above seas level
to the east.
The valley
has a Mediterranean climate, with an average rainfall of
more than 400 millimetres. Farmers produce cereal
crops, vegetables, dairy products, meat and wool.

The Laucke
Merrina stud is situated 30 kilometres north, north-east
of the Valley.

ALL
is not work at
Laucke-Merrina. We enjoy the company of our
friends, and with the valley (BAROSSA) just over the
hill we are able to select World Class wines to go with
the succulent Poll Hereford steak.
